Step 5
in the SPIDER
model:
Training Evaluation
Evaluating
your training progress should be an on-going process. We have found it
helpful to routinely discuss progress
towards goals with team members, zoological managers, and the
Behavioral Husbandry team. When meeting to discuss the progress of a
particular behavior or a problem, it is a good idea to review
documentation to look for trends in the data (e.g., an animal’s
individual performance scores over time, changes in aggression,
whether those patterns of aggression are associated with particular
trainers, and how long it takes to train a particular behavior). This
review can lead to a clearer idea of what the issues are, as well as
potential solutions.
